Ahhhhhhh, this book this book THIS BOOK! I floved the hell out-of-this-book!!!!! Oh my my Leighton and Maverick gave me life! I loved all the characters and the writing was exceptional. I seriously can't get enough of this book. I want so much more, I desperately NEED more of Leigh and Mav!

Maverick leaves his hometown of Pine Oak, Texas at eighteen to become a professional bull rider. Perusing his dreams is what he's always wanted, but it comes at a price. He leaves his brother and sister behind (also, his father, but I'm not going to get into that. If I do, I'll just rage, he's another story.) And then there's Ms. Leighton Elizabeth James, his calm and his peace. She was the hardest to walkway from.

Ten years later Maverick finds himself back to the place he never thought he'd return to. He didn't leave things right with Leigh when he left, and he sure as hell wishes he can make things right with her. He knows he has a lot of time to make-up, but he just hopes its not too late.

Leigh and Mav were everything I needed. This wasn't just some "I'm sorry for leaving you and pretending I didn't feel what you felt for me. I'm back now, can we just move on?" HECK NO! This was hard-work, talking through everything, getting your hands dirty, digging and clawing through broken glass, accepting what wasn't and putting countless ghosts to bed. And after all that, that's when finally Leigh and Mav were able to breathe and move forward. I hurt with both of them and I shed some tears as well. But the most beautiful thing was how they both healed and were able to find solace in one another. Oh boy and the way they loved each other, these two gave me all the feels!

I know I sound like a broken record, but I! LOVED! THIS! BOOK! I seriously need to hike up my cowboy boots get my bum to Texas and lasso me a cowboy!

Harper, girl you wrote one helluva book. Thank you a million times for giving us Leighton and Maverick!!! I can't wait to read Quinn's book and I hope there's a Clay book in the works. *fingers crossed*

Lost Rider is the 1st book in the new series called Coming Home by the amazing author Harper Sloan.
Lost Rider had me going thru multiple different emotions Hope. Anger. Angst. Peace. Forgiveness. And Most of All- Love. That is the theme that runs as a current thru this book. No matter what is going on, love is running throughout.
The main characters in this book are Maverick Davis & Leighton James. Maverick left Leighton 10 years before when they were teenagers, with plans to never come back. Now he is coming home, after too many concussions have taken him off the Rodeo circuit. Maverick has come home to his father’s death and to Leighton hating him. He didn’t remember her looking as sexy as she does now. She was once the only person he could talk to about anything, was one the only person he could share things with and now she doesn't even want to speak to him. WOW Times change. Maverick is determined to make Leighton talk to him ,to see him again but he doesn’t realize the depth of her despair and of her pain which means Maverick has a tough road ahead of him in proving to Leighton that he is home and he is back in her life.
Leighton is a woman who has had a hard road in life. She had this huge love for Maverick which he threw away when she was but 18 years old. It was done in a pretty cruel manner. She has had to grow up, and find her own dreams without the man she loved with her of her heart. When he left her, she was broken, and bruised. Her dreams didn’t come easy and her life didn’t come without fights but she is where she is now in life, by the drive she had to prove something and that was she could be something without him in her life and she is somewhat happy- she has her bakery and she has Maverick’s sister and brother (Quinn and Clay ) in her life as good friends. She doesn’t want him back in town, she doesn’t want him yet a part of her is happy he is back in town yet she fights those feelings.
There are deep and lacerating wounds that have to be healed before they can fully be together and not everything can be avoided which is what this story focuses on. That and what family really is. It’s a story about family and rediscovering those roots and making up for those you hurt. That is what this story also focuses on. Maverick and Leighton’s story will have you grabbing for tissues and rooting for their HEA. Their passion is deep and their love is one heck of a 2nd chance love story. It is so beautiful and the plot is fantastic, but it is written by Harper Sloan so yes, you will get that awesome plot, that beautifully written story. I look forward to reading the stories of Clay and Quinn.

I've been a fan of Harper Sloan for a while now and I've pretty much read all her books, so it was safe to say when I heard she was writing a book about a cowboy, I had to dive in head first- NO questions asked.

Lost Rider did not disappoint. Maverick Davis was the perfect alpha with a touch of brooding and damaged. He'll have you swooning with his Southern drawal and sweet Southern charm.

Then there's Leighton James. The sweet girl next door who falls for her best friend's brother. She's been a part of the Davis' lives since diapers and could never shake the crush she had on Maverick. She's tough, sassy, and independent even through the curve balls that life threw her way and losing her heart to Maverick. She's always remained the same, a true Southern girl to the core making it hard not to love her.

Yet Maverick and Leighton's relationship isn't easy, in fact it's complicated. There's a lot of unsettled tension after 10 years, but regardless their chemistry was so palpable you could feel it through the pages. They healed each other, fixed one another's broken parts, and above all else they loved each other through it all.

This book definitely leaned more towards the contemporary romance genre, but it was still funny, sexy, and full of sweet perfect moments with equally great secondary characters. Bring on Clay and Quinn's stories! I can't get enough of the Davis siblings and I'm dying for their books right MEOW.
